China Revises Annotations on Import-Export Tariff - China Legal News

On 16 Nov., the General Administration of Customs issued Announcement [2020] No.118, clarifying that the Harmonized System Committee of the World Customs Organization (“WCO”) has recently amended the Annotations of Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (the Harmonized System Annotations); thus, the General Administration of Customs of China has revised relevant contents of the Annotations of Commodities and Items under the Import and Export Tariff (the Tariff Annotations, 進出口稅則商品及品目注釋) simultaneously, and the latest revision will come into force as of 1 Dec. 2020.

The Harmonized System Annotations is an important part to implement the Harmonized System issued by the WCO. Based on the Harmonized System Annotations, China formulated the Annotations on Commodities and Items under the Import and Export Tariff as an important ground for the classification of commodities in China.
