China has nine political parties, including the Communist Party of China and eight other parties, the latter known as “the eight democratic parties”(八大民主黨派).
The Constitution prescribes China’s political party system as a system of multi-party cooperation, i.e. the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation led by the Communist Party of China.
China’s system of multi-party cooperation includes the Communist Party of China and the eight democratic parties. The eight democratic parties are respectively the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (中國(guó)國(guó)民黨革命委員會(huì)), the China Democratic League (中國(guó)民主同盟), the China Democratic National Construction Association (中國(guó)民主建國(guó)會(huì)), the China Association for the Promoting Democracy (中國(guó)民主促進(jìn)會(huì)), Chinese Peasants’ and Workers’ Democratic Party (中國(guó)農(nóng)工民主黨), the China Zhigong Party (中國(guó)致公黨), the Jiusan Society (九三學(xué)社) and the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (臺(tái)灣民主自治同盟).
The Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference is an important institution of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
